Pirate3D has joined forces with a world-renowned scientist to help bring 3D printing technologies to African institutions.
The 3D printing organisation has teamed up with Prof Calestous Juma of Harvard University, an authority in the application of science and technology to sustainable development worldwide.
Pirate3D - which last week launched its pioneering Buccaneer 3D printer on Kickstarter - said it is proud to be working alongside Prof Juma, with Chairman and Co-founder of Pirate3D Prof Neo Kok Beng describing the initiative as a "meaningful project".
He stated: "We will provide the Buccaneer 3D printers, and conduct training programs in 3D technologies appreciations, designs and apps development.
“We believe in contributing to society. Our vision is to democratise innovation, foster creativity, and facilitate entrepreneurship in the local communities. We will extend this project to other developing countries if it is well received, and within our financial capabilities. We could achieve this with great impact for the society with the support and partnerships with the 3D community worldwide. If you are interested to contribute: developing course, conducting voluntary training, and any other exciting ideas - please contact us."
