Software leader, Autodesk will demonstrate its Netfabb solution for additive manufacturing at TCT Show 2017 on 26th-28th September.
The full range of Autodesk’s Digital Manufacturing software will also be on show on stand E50, including programs for tooling design, machining, fabrication and inspection. Together these programs allow users to make products, using either additive or subtractive methods, or a combination of both.
Designed as a connected software for additive manufacturing, Netfebb helps to streamline workflows, reduce build errors and provide users with the ability to capitalise on the design freedom afforded by 3D printing. It helps in the creation of complex shapes with additive that would be impossible or uneconomic to produce with conventional technology.
Netfabb allows users to import designs from either Autodesk’s design software or other leading CAD programs where they can be optimised for additive manufacturing using Netfabb’s tools for file repair, efficient part packing and generation of build supports. Where machining is required, Netfabb also enables users to create near-net shapes to be created where machined finishing is required for smoother surface finishes or precise areas, such as a mating surfaces.
Once completed, parts can be simulated to compare different layouts within the manufacturing platform’s envelope and provide alternative options for supporting the various parts during the build. These simulations allow the user to develop the optimum build strategies and to avoid costly and time-consuming build failures. The completed file can then be sent directly into a range of additive manufacturing equipment.
