Hardware may have the edge when it comes to drawing the crowds at an additive manufacturing event, but software is often the glue that allows particular AM applications to become a reality.
Software giant, Autodesk was on hand at TCT Show to show visitors how intelligent solutions are helping to make manufacturing more streamlined and deliver product designs that could not be produced with the expertise of engineers alone.
Speaking about the impact of generative design and the digital design thread, Robert Yancey, Director, Manufacturing and Production Industry Strategy and Business Development at Autodesk told TCT: "What we're trying to do is be able to utilise the creativity of humans and give them more options to consider ... We're really trying to take advantage of the computer, what it does best, take advantage of the human and what they do best so our goal is not to eliminate the engineer, we want to empower the engineer and have access to a lot more data to make good decisions."
