The Personalize History of 3D Printing

It’s older than you think, is 3D printing, the idea of building objects up layer-by-layer stretches back further than even 3D Systems’ Chuck Hull. There’s this patent from 1979 by Ross F. Housholder, which states: “In each layer, prior to the deposition of the next layer, a portion of its area is solidified to define that portion of the article in that layer. Selective solidification of each layer may be accomplished by using heat and a selected mask or by using a controlled heat scanning process." – sounds familiar doesn’t it?
The history of 3D printing/additive manufacturing/rapid prototyping/time compression technologies or whatever the buzzword is at that current time, is one we have a unique vantage point on. As part of the Rapid News Communications Group we’ve been reporting on this ever growing and ever changing industry for over twenty years.
From the early days of Chuck Hull’s Stereolithography Apparatus to Bre Pettis’ MakerBot Replicator 2 we have been at the forefront of the technology and we now present to you the ‘Personalize History of 3D Printing’ in the form of a Facebook Timeline.
To launch Personalize’s new stream of social media we have collated the most important moments in 3D printing’s history and placed them in a handy chronological Facebook timeline order. So if you want to see MakerBot's Replicator 2 launch you simply have to scroll back to September 2012.
Personalize's social media channels are the best place to get all the latest 3D printing news and views, we're now available on five fronts; Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, YouTube and LinkedIn. So give us a follow, a plus, a subscribe, a connect or, if you want to see the Personalize History of 3D Printing, a like.
Stretching 30 years, the Personalize History of 3D printing covers the most important launches, mergers, innovations, patents and prints since the dawn of this technology. In our 3D printing archeological dig we uncovered some cracking photos and facts, all of which are presented as you click through the facebook timeline decades.
