Sweets printed in the Katjes Magic Candy Factory
The world’s first 3D printer for gummy sweets is to be launched across the UK this week.
Katjes Magic Candy Factory will be available online and throughout shopping centres in England, Wales and Scotland starting today (November 24th).
Customers will not only be able to purchase flavoursome sweets – there are eight flavours to choose from – but will also be able to customise them. The 3D printer will produce the confectionary in any shape, with a message, selfie or hand drawn design. Sweet lovers will also be able to enjoy the novelty of seeing the sweets being printed in front of them in a process that takes less than five minutes.
The machine making this all possible was invented and developed by Melissa Snover, the Managing Director of Katjes Magic Candy Factory. All sweets printed are vegan, allergen-free and Halal and Kosher friendly.
“Katjes Magic Candy started out with an idea I had last year and it’s incredible to see it here in real life, printing out sweets,” Snover said. “It really is a magical experience. I wanted to make sure everyone is able to enjoy Magic Candy so we’ve developed the sweets to be vegan, vegetarian and suitable for Halal and Kosher diets. The sweets are also all made with natural colours and flavours from real fruit and vegetable extracts. We are so excited to start inspiring the UK with our magical creations.”
The first food-certified 3D printer for gelatine free sweets, the Magic Candy Factory 3D printer has been launched in Germany and several US States. Led by Snover, the Katjes team have been working for months to deliver a way for children to create their own treats. The Magic Candy Factory hands all the innovation over to the customer.
Since the Magic Factory debuted, Katjes have been recognised for their innovation and consideration for dietary requirements. In 2016, Katjes were winners of the Free From Food Award, World Food Innovation Award and won first prize at the Top Innovation Award.
