3YOURMIND will look to improve its software's machine learning capabilities after receiving €1.3 million in funding.
The investment has been co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and from the Research, Innovation and Technology Promotion Program (PRO FIT) of the Investitionsbank Berlin (IBB).
3YOURMIND will harness the cash to add artificial neural networks (ANNs) to its additive workflow software products. ANNs are computing systems which find patterns considered too complex or numerous for humans to identify and learn to perform tasks in accordance with those patterns.
The company has so far brought to market an Order Management software, designed to automate the processing and management of 3D print orders; the AM Part Identifier, which uses algorithms to determine which parts within an inventory would be suitable for additive manufacture; and the Agile Manufacturing Execution System, which looks to optimise production and post-processing with ‘smart part prioritisation’, dynamic scheduling, and real-time machine monitoring.
By investing in machine learning capabilities, 3YOURMIND is hoping to further advance these software programmes, and in turn, streamline the production workflows of manufacturers utilising 3D printing technologies. To aid this, the company is also looking to gather information relating to the physical use of its software by evaluating non-sensitive data to identify and codify patterns, with each development test being cycled into the software for further validation. 3YOURMIND can count GKN, EOS, Deutsche Bahn, and Continental among its user base, all of whom have the opportunity to opt in to this information gathering process. The more that do, the more the software learns.
