Apium Filament Dryer
Apium Additive Technologies, a 3D printing hardware manufacturer, has launched the Apium Filament Dryer, which works to reduce moisture-related defects in parts printed with material extrusion processes.
The company has partnered with Purpose AM Systems, an additive manufacturing product development firm based in Singapore, to deliver this machine to market, which is ready to ship immediately.
Apium, through its experience with material extrusion 3D printing, which includes being both a vendor of 3D printing systems and 3D printing materials, has identified moisture as a key reason for poor quality in printed parts.
It has thus brought the Filament Dryer to market which is said to ensure high extrusion quality, less oozing and stringing, higher interlayer adhesion, and high mechanical properties. It can be supported by all of Apium’s P Series 3D printers and Apium filaments, as well as a host of open system printers and materials. The machine boasts thermally insulated walls which help to reduce heat loss, and with front-loading offers easy filament interchange. Its rotary desiccant system dehumidifies incoming air, and has a set of HEPA and carbon filters to limit the volume of exhausts and filter dust particles. The Filament Dryer can support spools of filament up to 200mm in diameter and 80mm in width, while the filament size itself must be 1.75mm / 2.85mm / 3.00mm, and has a temperature range of 40 – 80°C.
“Through our partnership with Purpose AM, we are launching Apium Filament Dryer and provide our end-users with the complete solution for processing high-performance polymers,” commented Pinar Karakas, Head of Quality Management and Marketing.
