Two more manufacturers of 3D printing materials have been acquired by BASF as the chemicals giant continues to increase its presence in the sector.
Now wholly owned by BASF 3D Printing Solutions (B3DPS), Advanc3D Materials GmbH, a company operating out of Hamburg, and Setup Performances SAS in Lyon, who work as co-developers of materials for laser sintering processes. Recognising the pair’s successful collaboration, B3DPS has moved to take 100% ownership of both parties.
It comes just months after the company launched a PA6 material in collaboration with laser sintering system developer, Farsoon, and almost a year after the 100% acquisition of Innofil3D, which followed the founding of B3DSP in July 2017. BASF has since talked multiple times to TCT, highlighting how its existence within the 3D printing sphere can help push the technology in the direction of volume manufacturing. These latest developments will support those ambitions, and enhance the output of one of the largest material manufacturers in the world.
Adanc3D Materials offers a range of products and comprehensive expertise in the application of those products, while Setup Performance is its contract manufacturer and development partner.

“Following our acquisition of Innofil3D last year and the consequent strengthening of our market presence in plastic filaments for layer extrusion we are now in similar fashion expanding our market access in the area of powder bed fusion. The portfolio complements our existing range, being perfectly suited to products such as polyamide 11, polyamide 12 and polypropylene.”
