GE Additive Bralco MoU
Bralco Advanced Materials has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with GE Additive to work on the development of 3D printed magnetic components.
Through the MoU, the research, product development and commercialisation company is looking to harness GE Additive’s expertise in powder manufacturing and 3D printing to develop soft and hard magnets, as well as components with complex shapes, differentiated magnetic fields, and high magnetic fields that can function in demanding environments. The aim is to develop components that can operate at elevated temperatures, high frequencies, and high torque conditions, like parts for traction motors of electric vehicles, for example.
GE Additive’s AddWorks consultancy division and AP&C materials business will work with Bralco to develop, and hopefully commercialise, the 3D printed magnetic components. There is also potential for Bralco to become a service provider of these parts in the Asia Pacific region using GE Additive machines and powders.
