Candy 3D Confectionary Printer
Candy 3D Confectionary Printer
Another company wanting a bite of the 3D printed food market has landed on Kickstarter today. Candy from 3Dventures has been designed to make 3D food printing more accessible to those on a budget with a strikingly low price point of £299.
Candy certainly looks good. It comes in a range of colours to suit the individual and would sit comfortably in a modern home kitchen or professional workspace with its minimalistic design.
The machine is considered to be the first confectionary focused 3D food printer and with such a low price point in comparison with other food printers, 3Dventures reckons Candy is the first that is ‘truly affordable’ for customers.
Though there is a big emphasis on the home market, Candy is also aimed at professional bakers and chefs. The machine claims to eliminate the need for carrying out repetitive tasks with automated print features and custom designs preloaded for creating treats like custom chocolates.
Candy comes with dispensers that can be filled up with whatever semi-solid food product you wish to print with. It also includes a preloaded SD card filled with pre-set designs that are ready to print straight from the box.
Though Candy is apparently capable of producing cookies and other simple confectionaries, the campaign video only really demonstrates the printers decorating abilities with patterns and text. It will be interesting to see some more examples of what Candy is capable of as the campaign progresses.
The project needs to reach £60,000 before it ends on September 19th in order to receive funding. Pledges start from £299 for a machine but backers with their own 3D printer can purchase just the Candy’s plug and play extruder for £149 which can be used with their current system.
