ADAPT
ADAPT research consortium
ADAPT was established in December of 2015 through a grant from the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade
Concept Laser has become the first manufacturer of additive metal machines to align themselves with a research consortium focused on developing technologies to accelerate 3D-printed metal parts.
ADAPT, the Alliance for the Development of Additive Processing Technologies, welcomes Concept Laser as a pioneer of 3D metal printing, as they seek to advance the certification and qualification of metal in 3D printing.
“We’re honoured to be part of ADAPT and its mission to provide leading R&D data on metal additive manufacturing,” said John Murray, President and CEO of Concept Laser Inc. “We are particularly pleased to be the first member that is a manufacturer of additive metal machines. We look forward to sharing our unique perspective as a manufacturer, as well as receiving valuable feedback from users.”
The partnership of Concept Laser and ADAPT, both companies hope will be mutually beneficial. Concept Laser will share its knowledge and help ADAPT broaden its scope, while ADAPT will look to improve its clients’ technologies.
“We are excited to welcome Concept Laser to ADAPT and to extend our focus beyond helping businesses qualify parts to include helping manufacturers of 3D metals printers improve their technologies,” said ADAPT Technical Director Aaron Stebner.
ADAPT is a research and development organisation dedicated to the creation of next-generation data informatics and advanced characterisation technologies for additive manufacturing technologies. The company uses its these tools to help industry and government qualify, standardise, assess, and optimise advanced manufacturing processes and parts.
There are several levels of membership to the ADAPT consortium available. Founding industry members include Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp., Faustson Tool, Lockheed Martin and Citrine Informatics. Grant funding from the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade was provided to Manufacturer’s Edge and The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Holings Manufacturing Extension Partnership to launch the research consortium.
