EuroMold is a fantastic platform for demonstrating the very cutting-edge of 3D technology in industry and EGS has brought exciting dental developments to the Frankfurt-based trade show (December 3rd-6th).
As General Manager Emidio Cennerilli says, you only come to shows like this when you have something to say and EGS has made sure to save its exciting "unique" dental systems just for this major industry event.
EGS has combined 3D scanning technology with innovative new software that can visualise the final result of dental treatment for the benefit of the patient.
The DScan 3 XF32 is the latest incarnation of EGS' 3D scanning technology designed especially for dentists. The machine itself is compact and could be pictured quite easily on the desktop of a dental surgery. The machine is a new generation of structured light dental scanner using blue LED light technology, allowing for a faster, more accurate scan with a camera resolution of up to 3.2 megapixels.
The DScan 3 XF32 works in conjunction with EGS' Digital Smile System, which claims to be "the first software which allows to design smile aesthetics and functional reconstruction by means of simple, automatic tools".
"Brand new software coupled with a brand new system. Nobody has the same application we have. We have developed the real deal. A real software to do this job," Cennerilli explained.
He demonstrated that before, in order to show the patient how their teeth would look after a dental treatment it would be a low-tech case of using Power Point and asking the customer to exercise their imagination, but now they can actually see an accurate representation of what their smiles will look like when their treatment is complete.
"We show the patient the final result using a library of real teeth and they get a perception of [how] that job [will look] in their own mouth," Cennerilli continued.
The EGS team is certainly proud of its exciting work with 3D scanning technology in the dental field.
"We started working on this system two and a half years ago, so it's been a long deal, but we have a final and unique solution for dental patients," the General Manager said. "And the feedback we are getting [from early adopters] has been good."
This system was designed especially for dentists, but EGS' technology is used in multiple applications including dentistry and industry - nevertheless it's the dental side of EGS that Cennerilli and the team are showing off this week at EuroMold.
