Speaking with Autodesk’s Aubrey Cattell earlier this year, TCT reported that the company was busy behind the scenes adding key strategic partners to progress Autodesk's revolutionary open source Spark platform. Now the leading design and visualisation company has delivered by getting juggernaut HP on board to integrate Autodesk’s Spark platform into its recently unveiled Multi Jet Fusion platform.
Joining forces with a common goal to unlock 3D printing's full potential, the two companies hope to push the technology forward to achieve higher speeds, better quality, improved reliability and ultimately power a new industrial revolution that changes the way we design and manufacture things.
In a joint post on the Spark blog Samir Hanna, Vice President and General Manager, Consumer and 3D Printing at Autodesk and Scott Schiller, WW Business Director at HP, 3D Printing said: “Autodesk and HP have worked together for a long time. We share a vision to drive technology innovation and provide the best products and experiences to our customers. Today, Autodesk and HP expand the alignment of our offerings to push 3D printing forward and drive toward a new industrial revolution that changes the way we design and manufacture things.”
Spark provides the building blocks for 3D printing by targeting all three of the major areas; software, hardware and materials. In doing so it invites innovators from all corners of the additive manufacturing community to build on the foundations already made and charge the technology forward without having to answer the same questions and problems that have come before them.
Combined with HP’s Multi Jet Fusion printer which will enable users to access a range of sophisticated tools to create with many types of materials and properties at once, the joint mission will allow both companies to progress towards a manufacturing future powered by 3D printing.
