Laser Prototypes Europe (LPE), a 3D printing service bureau based in the UK, has purchased an EOS M 290, its largest investment to date.
The metal sintering machine cost the company £500,000 and strengthens its prototyping and manufacturing capabilities. It can count itself as one of the few companies in the UK able to provide parts printed in aluminium, stainless steel and titanium.
By leveraging the EOS M 290, LPE is targeting industries like aerospace, motor racing and healthcare, and other markets looking towards metal 3D printing to transform their manufacturing processes. LPE has offered services in additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping for around 25 years, and believes this latest investment, its most significant yet, will maintain its position as a leading 3D printing service bureau in the UK.
“This is a large investment and step forward for LPE in terms of our expansion into the metal sintering market,” said Tom Walls, Managing Director of LPE. “The substantial value of this investment reflects our confidence in this new technology and demonstrates our commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation in this fast-moving industry.
“Our goal is to double our turnover with our aerospace and medical customers and metal sintering is amazing, allowing intricate metal parts to be built that were previously impossible using traditional manufacturing methods. We see metal sintering as important contributors to innovation and the future growth of these industries.”
The M 290 was developed by EOS to enable users to print high-quality metal parts directly from CAD data. It has a build volume of 250 x 250 x 325mm, a powerful 400-watt fibre laser, and can support a wide range of validated materials and processes. LPE has installed the EOS M 290 and is ready to provide metal 3D parts to its customer base.
