Consumer 3D printing giant MakerBot will be taking over New York later this month for a series of workshops and maker events as part of 3D Print Week New York.
Sponsoring the event on April 16th and 17th, 2015, at the Javits Convention Centre, MakerBot will host a program of educational MakerBot Sessions for designers, educators, engineers and the general public that brings together thought leaders in the field of design and 3D printing.
The week will consist of a range of activities including MakerBot Learning Workshops, software and design demonstrations, interactive design bars and talks on 3D printing in education, engineering, architecture and design. The MakerBot booth will also feature software demonstrations by Adobe Photoshop, Pixologic, Inc., Makers of ZBrush; Tinkercad/123D by Autodesk, Modo by The Foundry, Wacom and Solidworks.
What’s more, MakerBot are giving makers the chance to take a look inside its famous Brooklyn headquarters as part of a MakerBot Learning Primer on 3D Printing led by industry experts to bring you up to speed with MakerBot’s latest technology. This all-day class runs from 10:00 am. until 5:00 pm, April 14th, 2015.

Highlights include a session on Thursday 16th at 10.30am, MakerBot Theater, on jump starting the design process with 3D scanning and then at 4pm a demonstration from MODO on how designers are using the software for special effects, animation, games and movies. On Friday 17th at 11am, MakerBot Theater, Autodesk program manager Jesse Harrington Au will show visitors how to get started with 3D design software, and at 1pm a discussion with W. Scott Allen will explore the Urban Ecosystem: 3D printing and architecture.
But it's not just about the learning during 3D Print Week New York as MakerBot will host a special invitation only MakerBot Party on the 16th April at 6.30pm to get 3D printing enthusiasts excited for the week’s activities at the MakerBot Retail Store, the world’s first 3D printing store.
In addition to MakerBot’s participation in the 3D Print Design Show, MakerBot CEO Jonathan Jaglom will be presenting a keynote at the Inside 3D Printing portion of the show at 1:30 pm, April 16. MakerBot Training Manager Erin Arden will also be presenting at Inside 3D Printing on “How to Get Started 3D Printing,” in a tutorial session at 2:00 pm on April 15th.
