Markforged has announced the opening of a 25,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Billerica, Massachusetts to address the demand for materials.
The new space will more the double the 3D printing vendor’s production capacity and support the increasing applications of its composite and metal additive manufacturing platforms.
Home to 35 employees with room for 25 more to be brought on board in the coming years, the Billerica facility is the third addition to the company’s footprint this year after the opening of a European headquarters in Dublin and an AI innovation centre in Cambridge, MA to support the development of its Blacksmith software.
Markforged has a customer base that includes tens of thousands across more than 50 countries. The company currently offers seven 3D printing platforms across its Desktop, Industrial and Metal portfolios with a ‘fun’ roadmap that remains close to the Markforged chest but promises further additions. Users of Markforged platforms include Stanley Black & Decker, Siemens, Shukla Medical and Haddington Dynamics, while the escalating demand for Markforged machines has led to an 81% increase in material production. The Billerica facility has been opened to address this increase and make sure its customers have a more than adequate resource of consumables.
