Massive Dynamics is set to acquire 3D printer developer PrintForge 3D.Massive Dynamics is set to acquire a Hong Kong-based developer of 3D printers and related materials and accessories.
The company has signed a letter of intent to close the deal with PrintForge 3D and the purchase could set Massive Dynamics up as a key player in the rapidly expanding additive manufacturing sector.
PrintForge 3D will acquire, develop and refine 3D printers, scanners and related software with a mind to becoming a one stop shop for the industry.
President of Massive Dynamics Oscar Hines commented: "We look forward to working with PrintForge over the next several months to launch their line of 3D printers and accessories into the US market; while completing the mutual due diligence required for execution of the definitive acquisition agreement."
He added that there is "no doubt" that the additive manufacturing sector is enjoying a period of significant growth and interest at present and this is set to continue thanks to the "virtually unlimited" applications for 3D printing, which he expects will shift the industry so consumers interact more with the manufacturing economy.
