Boston based 3D printing developer NVBOTS has today announced it has secured a $2 million seed funding round to accelerate the adoption of 3D printing in education.
Founded by MIT graduates, the company will use the funding from domestic and international investments to support its business development and production of what they claim to be the world’s first fully automated printer, the NVPro.
As part of the round, Dr. Michael Foley, manufacturing expert, MIT faculty member and former CEO of Reflexite will be joining the board of directors.
NVBOTS has developed a simple 3D printing experience, based on its NVPro 3D printer, the first end-to-end 3D printing solution with automated part removal. The company also has a cloud-based platform which means prints can run 24-7 from any device with little manual intervention.
“NVBOTS is delivering on the promise of 3D printing unlike any other company, by empowering young innovators with the proven 3D printing capabilities needed to turn their ideas into reality,” said Foley. “The NVBOTS team is passionate about making 3D printing accessible to everyone, regardless of background, and I am proud to help them deliver on their vision.”
NVBOTS is focussed on the education sector and provides educational modules designed with Common Core Standards and Next Generation Science Standards in mind. The company also leases 3D printing equipment to schools to support 3D printing education.
NVBOTS COO Chris Haid was recently named in the Forbes list of 30 under 30 leaders in manufacturing.
