IntelliSpace Portal 9.0 CT brain perfusion
Dutch tech giants, Philips have introduced their new IntelliSpace Portal 9.0 analysis platform, which features enhanced 3D printing options, at the Radiological Society of North America Annual Meeting.
The new machine aims to advance brain imaging, debuting applications which can track and compare images of the vital organ which will allow patient progression to be determined more accurately. These improved scans are then able to be 3D printed into lifelike models.
With more than 70 applications and enhancements of many of the core features, IntelliSpace Portal 9.0 is a single platform for visual analysis and quantification that spans clinical domains within radiology, including neurology, oncology and cardiology. These enhancements include improved advanced 3D rendering and refined STL export that enables clinicians to print 3D models with high-levels of detail and resolution. This not only helps the clinician to understand the anatomy, but procedures can also be explained to the patient using the model.
IntelliSpace Portal 9.0 also includes advancements to a host of core applications including MR Cardiac Analysis and CT TAVI planning. The platform facilitates the easy visualisation of scoring in various examination contexts. Enhancements to the package include Whole Heart STL export for 3D printing.
Featuring a suite of multi-modality functions and expanded neurological tools, the latest edition of Philips’ comprehensive visual analysis and quantification platform helps radiologists detect, diagnose and plan for the treatment of diseases. The machine also offers new learning capabilities to support the physician in using new technologies.

Due to a growing number of patients suffering from brain problems and neurological disorders, such as dementia, strokes, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and multiple sclerosis (MS), radiologists have welcomed the new technology.
“As the rates of dementia and neurodegeneration rise, neuroradiologists need advanced tools to help referring physicians treat these challenging cases,” said Professor Dr Leo Wolansky, Acting Chief of Neuroradiology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Centre in the United States. “Intellispace Portal 9.0 offers a comprehensive set of robust tools so neuroradiologists can quantify disease expediently.”
As well as enhancements in areas such as CT Brain Perfusion and MR T2 Perfusion, Intellispace Portal 9.0 will offer Longitudinal Brain Imaging (LoBI)3. This is an application for neuro reading to support the evaluation of neurological disorders over time so clinicians can monitor the progression of a disease. Another feature is the inclusion of the NeuroQuant measurement application (CorTech Labs) which enable clinicians to quantify brain volume loss.
IntelliSpace Portal 9.0 offers multimodality clinical applications that can be accessed from any point of the hospital network. Additionally, the solution can integrate with typical PACS and hospital information systems to allow for information to be shared broadly, helping drive collaboration across the network. With the enterprise scalability of IntelliSpace Portal 9.0, neurologists can access the power of advanced analysis virtually anywhere across their organisation while maintaining consistent applications and user preferences.
