Progman MagiCAD 2018
The MagiCAD 2018 program supports Autodesk’s Revit and AutoCAD software.
Progman, a Finnish software provider, has released MagiCAD 2018, a new and extensive functionality for mechanical, electrical and plumbing design.
The MagiCAD 2018 program supports Autodesk’s Revit and AutoCAD software, and makes design faster and easier due to a range of new features and improved workflows, according to Progman. Aligning version numbering and release cycle more closely with Autodesk practices, Progman has made a commitment to providing a more efficient system.
In the new release model, there will be one major MagiCAD release and two to three Update Release feature packs annually, offering MagiCAD users with new features and improvements at a shorter interval than before. MagiCAD automates many complex and time-consuming design tasks, saving time in day-to-day design work, and shortening the total project run-through times on average by 30% or more.
Providing support for the Revit 2017-2018 program, MagiCAD enables the user to search and load products from MagiCloud and makes enhancements to the wire drawing functions. These enhancements to the wire drawing feature includes a powerful management tool and wire type search. Progman also suggests its updated mechanical, electrical and plumbing routing tool for horizontal crossings will save the user a lot of time. Additionally, MagiCAD 2018 features user-configurable balancing methods in ventilation and plumbing design; improvements to defining provisions for builders’ work operations; enhancements to creating custom user symbols; and allows the user to design and calculate using air terminals with multiple connections. Finally, users of Revit are treated to a more versatile Running Index tool and a series of Supports & Hangers updates.
Meanwhile, MagiCAD 2018 provides a completely different set of updated features for the AutoCAD 2015-2018, though users of this software package can also access products from MagiCloud. Users can now merge datasets and have access to improved settings for dataset location. There are also enhanced short-circuit calculations, circuits in communication and data systems design, and a Find & Replace function for climate beams and fan coil units. New properties have been introduced for electrical circuits and switchboard schematics, while user-configurable balancing methods have also been implemented. For additional design, dimension text variables for slanted cable tray elevations have been made available.
