Protolabs has announced the addition of Carbon’s Digital Light Synthesis (DLS) to its fleet of additive manufacturing technologies.
The service manufacturer deploys six different additive manufacturing technologies to produce more than 100,000 components every month. It has sought to integrate Carbon’s DLS technology to expand the variety of applications it can additively manufacture for its customer base.
Carbon DLS technology has been harnessed by other manufacturers to produce parts in the automotive, medical, dental and sports industries, including two bike saddle products from Specialized and fizik. Protolabs is more than familiar with some of those industries and will now integrate the DLS process into its manufacturing operations, which lean on automation to produce parts on-demand and have them shipped within days. Adding another string to its bow, the company believes its additive manufacturing offering marks it out as a leader in the market.
