The Creo 4.0 software introduces new capabilities for additive manufacturing, Internet of Things, augmented reality and model based definition.
PTC, a leading innovator in 3D CAD, has announced the release of the latest version of its Creo 4.0 CAD software.
The latest instalment introduces new capabilities for additive manufacturing, as well as Internet of Things (IoT), augmented reality and model based definition (MBD). Creo 4.0 is also said to enable smarter design and greater productivity with a vast array of core modelling enhancements and new functionality that allows designers to create future products.
In an era of much change and advancement with regard to product development, thanks in large part to IoT and smart products, Creo 4.0 represents the future of design. This latest release allows product designers to create smart, connected products and capitalise on new technologies, such as additive manufacturing.

The Creo 4.0 software allows the efficient design of production parts built with additive manufacturing techniques. It enables designers to design, optimise, validate and run a print-check in a single environment. With the ability to create parametrically controlled lattice structures, it enables designers to optimise models to meet multiple design objectives or constraints.
Other key enhancements of the software include the ability to pull real-world information back into the design process and enables a design for connectivity strategy where developers proactively design products with custom data streams by integrating sensors into the design process. It also allows for more engaging and informative visual experiences of designs by bringing the digital product into the physical world. Designers can seamlessly reuse CAD data to easily create engaging and informative visual augmented reality experiences of a design with a realistic sense of size, scale and context.
Finally, the software enables designers to successfully implement MBD and increase efficiency in product development by reducing dependency on 2D drawings and reduces the errors that result from incorrect, incomplete or misinterpreted information by guiding and educating designers in the proper application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance information.
