Marc Saunders - Renishaw online guide am
Marc Saunders delivers the first instalment of Renishaw's online guide to additive manufacturing.
Renishaw, a leading engineering and scientific technology company, has launched a dedicated guide to Additive Manufacturing (AM) on its website.
The goal is to educate and inform customers and the wider engineering community with videos, case studies, feature articles, and industry news and opinion pieces. The company’s experts, such as Director of Global Solutions Centres, Marc Saunders, also a notable AM LinkedIn blogger, and expert in metal powders for AM, Lucy Grainger, have contributed to the guide.
They wish to reach out to even more people, and as a part of the new section, they have published a beginners' guide to AM, which explains the advantages of design freedom, performance and efficiency. It also explains how it is essential to waste and cost reduction, and covers the business impact of AM and the latest developments in the industry.
“Investing in AM requires time, resources and equipment,” explained Robin Weston, Marketing Manager at Renishaw’s Additive Manufacturing Products Division. “To understand the benefits and develop a reliable and capable process, companies must rigorously assess operations.
“We want to educate the industry on why to consider AM, when to consider it and what applications are suitable,” continued Weston. “Alongside our knowledge of AM, Renishaw has expertise in precision measurement, machining and finishing. This positions us as the perfect partner for an integrated industrial additive manufacturing solution.”
Previously this year, Renishaw showcased how they will use multi-laser technology to increase productivity in additive manufacturing at MACH 2018. Renishaw highlighted its work on its latest additive manufacturing system, the RenAM 500Q, which aims to increase productivity up to four times.
Renishaw is UK based, but its biggest markets are China, the USA, Japan and Germany, and the company has won numerous international awards, including 18 Queen’s Awards for their work in technology export and innovation. As well as their new AM guide on their website, they also have a quarterly newsletter where you can subscribe to receive the latest news on developments and technology.
