Smart product developer, Seebo have agreed to integrate their platform with the Autodesk Forge platform to transform 3D product design into smart, connected products.
This integration follows the strategic investment by Autodesk in Seebo’s Software as a Service (SaaS) platform. It will enable Seebo’s customers to build smart products on its platform using a 3D product design interface.
Additionally, Autodesk users designing 3D models on the Autodesk Forge platform can now add smart functionality for Internet of Things enablement using the Seebo platform.
“We’re very excited about the integration between Autodesk Forge and Seebo, which will provide Autodesk customers with access to some of the most cutting-edge IoT development tools available,” said Lior Akavia, co-founder and CEO of Seebo. “The joint platform allows manufacturers to tap into the world of IoT efficiently and cost-effectively.”
Seebo’s technology intuitively connects Autodesk design apps like Fusion 360 and enables users to drag and drop components, such as motion and location features, into a product design framework, transforming simple products into smart ones.
Meanwhile, Forge is a connected developer platform that powers the future of making things. It takes components from Autodesk’s strong library of software and delivers them as cloud-based building blocks.
The integration between the two platforms means 3D models can now be directly uploaded into Seebo’s IoT Creator where the foundations of the product’s functional design are created. With the ability to upload 3D models from Autodesk Forge into the Seebo IoT Creator, users can assign smart behaviours or features directly onto a 3D model and map where the smart behaviours will be applied to the final product. The direct integration from one platform to another gives Seebo users precise, user-friendly design tools when planning and ideating smart products.
By being able to accurately implement the smart features exactly where they need to be on the product, an efficient smart product can be produced, improving the end-user experience. During the smart product lifecycle, all the players in the creation of the product, from product designer, to hardware, software, and firmware developer, right through to the manufacturer, will have access to an accurate 3D map of the smart product design.
By seamlessly integrating the Autodesk Forge Viewer API into Seebo’s platform, users can manipulate the working model in a 360-degree environment so that smart product planning takes shape quickly and easily offering a fun user interface.
The Seebo platform allows users to order prototypes and access the IoT marketplace to further develop the product and take the final version to mass production. Once the product has gone to market, users can harness Seebo’s IoT cloud provider partnerships to monitor and manage the performance of the product.
The ability to plan, build and integrate smart products using one comprehensive IoT platform dramatically decreases development costs, reduces costs per unit and streamlines the smart product development process. It enables all users, from small startups to enterprise customers, to easily and reliably build high quality smart products and take them to market quickly.
