Solid Concepts
There is still time for to enter Solid Concepts' 3D printing design challenge, which tasks Europe and North America's fearless designers and makers to draw up the plans for a 3D-printed skateboard.
Winners of the competition - which closes on June 30th 2014 - will take home a real 3D-printed version of their own skateboard design and have the chance for their design to be showcased at an international 3D printing event.
The rules of the competition are that the skateboard design must be original and participants must be based in Europe or North America.
Not only must the skateboard design be unique, but it has to be functional, while it must fit within the parameters of a maximum 25.5 inches in length, while the deck cannot be thinner than 0.475 inches in thickness.
The top five finalists will see their designs uploaded to the Solid Concepts Facebook page, with the top two being decided by Solid Concept's followers. Solid Concepts will produce both these top designs using Selective Laser Sintering.
Designs must be submitted via STL. file to Solid Concepts by June 30th. Full instructions for participants are available online.
