TUSAŞ Engine Industries (TEI) has invested in two GE Additive Concept Laser M Line Factory and two M2 cusing systems.
The announcement was made on the opening day of the 2019 Paris Air Show and is an extension of the links between GE and Turkish Aerospace Industries, the parent organisation of TEI. TEI was founded in 1985 as GE Aviation entered into a joint venture with Turkish Aerospace Industries, the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, and the Turkish Aeronautical Association.
In the subsequent 30+ years, TEI has produced more than 1,000 parts for a range of aviation products and has also offered services to OEMs for an array of different types of military and commercial engine programmes. The company has now sought to add four direct metal laser melting (DMLM) machines to its repertoire of manufacturing technology, which also includes Arcam EBM machines. All four of the new 3D printing platforms will be installed at TEI’s Eskişehir headquarters.
