Ultimaker has expanded its global reach with the opening of new offices in Singapore and the appointment of a Vice President Asia Pacific.
The company has made the move to better enable it to meet the growing demand for 3D printing technologies in the APAC region, which, per the Wohlers Report, is home to nearly 30% of the all industrial additive manufacturing systems installed around the world. It now means Ultimaker has a base in all three of the leading manufacturing continents, after the Dutch company launched a sales office in North America in 2016.
Heading Ultimaker’s newest corporate development will be Benjamin Tan, VP Asia Pacific, who previously held a Channel Director role at Dassault Systemes. He will oversee a team looking to better manage local demand of 3D printing technologies, delivering Ultimaker machines, materials and software to customers, and offering support through the APAC Sales Partner Network.
Ultimaker already has a healthy range of industrial users, including Volkswagen, Jabil, and Bosch, who are beginning to apply the technology not just for prototypes, but for end use parts and tools too. The company sees no reason why this trend won’t be present in the Asia Pacific region, and Tan shares that view.
