After the holiday hiatus, team TCT dusted itself down and jumped on board various flights bound for one destination, CES 2016. The prospect of coming to Las Vegas so soon after cramming more chocolate and alcohol down one’s neck than you’d have thought physically possible both terrifies and exhilarates. Whatever the weather (and it is unusually British here in Nevada) it sure beats heading back to the office.
For the third year running we’re presenting the 3D Printing Marketplace and organising the 3D Printing Conference at the world’s largest consumer electronics trade show and 2016 is sure to be a bumper edition as registration for said conference is breaking all our records and the press releases for technology launches are pouring in.
Vegas doesn’t stand still, despite this being our third year here and with another visit for Dassault Systemes 3DEXPERIENCE FORUM under my belt it would be reasonable to assume that I’d have a pretty firm grasp of where I’m going. But such is the rapidly changing face of Vegas, where sky scraping hotels are thrown up in a matter of months and restaurants open in the bat of eyelid, I’ve already been lost twice. I'm definitely blaming Vegas and not my appalling sense of direction...
However, once I'd found my bearings( / fired up Google Maps) and walked the familiar corridors towards the Sands Expo I find myself gobsmacked to see our logo on a board amongst companies like Variety, Cnet and TechCrunch. It’s odd to think that TCT have more logos on one CES branding board than there were 3D printing companies at CES five years ago.
There are a few pretty significant 3D printing innovations I know of to be launched here but such is the nature of embargoes that I can't go into specifics just yet, for the first glimpses of the news make sure you keep up with our dedicated CES news section and to get the first look on the latest tech make sure you’re subscribed to the TCT YouTube Channel, you’ll feel like you’re there.
One excitement I can discuss however is our Conference track, 3D Printing: A Catalyst for Innovation. on a personal note I’m very much looking forward to it this year. It is very exciting to have Carbon3D on the programme for what I’m pretty certain is one of the first talks by Dr Joseph DeSimone since that TED Talk went viral and became one of the most talked about techs in the world.
