Whispering Gibbon Perfected3D
Whispering Gibbon's Perfected3D platform is now available for businesses to trial.
Around 18 months ago, TCT reported the six-figure funding for Whispering Gibbon to bring to market its software platform, designed to make possible the 3D printing of virtual gaming content.
Now, the team from Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, has rebranded and launched the service as a free-to-use beta program for businesses to trial. Whispering Gibbon hopes Perfected3D will change the way 3D printing works, making it more accessible in the meantime. Since TCT’s initial coverage of the service, Whispering Gibbon has extended its focus beyond gaming, and is now focussed on automating manual model processing for all printing services.
The Perfected3D beta service has been made available on the Whispering Gibbon website. Businesses now have access to a 3D printer, and the chance to trial the technology by printing their own 3D models.
“Most 3D models are manually ‘hand-fixed’ to make them print-ready which is costly and time consuming,” said Joe Stevens, Founder and CEO of Whispering Gibbon. “By fully automating the process our platform keeps costs down and vastly increases throughput. This makes 3D printing much more cost effective for bigger companies, [and] accessible for smaller companies, allowing them to create personalised content and easily scale up.”
One company already to successfully test the service is Lockwood Publishing, a social gaming firm based in Nottingham, England.
“This tech allow the users of our app, Avakin Life to turn their unique video game creations into 3D print ready models and we have been really impressed with the results,” said Joel Kemp, Director at Lockwood Publishing. “The tech is currently being tested in the UK and will soon be rolled out globally to our 3 million monthly users.”
Another company testing Perfected3D is Space Group, a creative architecture firm. This alliance proves Whispering Gibbon’s commitment to the wider model processing market, and might just be a game-changer, according to Rob Charlton, Space Group’s CEO.
“If Perfected3D can really achieve what it promises, it will have a huge impact on project timescales and costs by transforming the existing workflows from concept phase to completion of a build,” Charlton said. “This could be the breakthrough for the construction industry that we have all been waiting for.”
Stevens added: “After three years of research and development we’re ready to set up partnerships with more 3D printing services and printer manufacturers. We’ll be making public additional ground-breaking features over the coming weeks that will further streamline processes and increase productivity including real-time dynamic print previews and automatically placed escape holes.”
