Multifunctional 3D printer manufacturer ZMorph 3D is stepping into the electronics sector with the introduction of its 3D CNC milling toolhead, allowing users to prepare printed circuit boards for electronics manufacturing.
Formerly aimed at the designer, architect and maker areas, Z Morph’s latest device allows users to create tracks on PCB with a precision of 14 microns and drilling to allow for soldering elements.
“So far, our 3D Personal Fabricators, thanks to easily removable and interchangeable toolheads, were used by designers, architects, engineers, medical technicians, hobbyists and even food makers,” Przemek Jaworski, CEO of ZMorph explained. “Now they have been joined by people who want to create electronics without really expensive and complex machines but with the cheap and readily available materials. Now companies from the technology industry, scientists working on projects and other professional engineers will benefit from our 3D PCB milling add-on.”

In addition to CNC machining, the laser toolhead allows users to engrave descriptions and other information on the electronic boards. The feed rate and rotation speed are optimised in the company's 3D software to provide the high level of precision needed for creating simple circuit boards without having to seek out the services of larger and more expensive manufacturers.
Jaworski added: “Our goal is to provide creative people around the world with functionality that empowers them to change their workplaces and houses into small production studios. Not only with hardware, but also with the Voxelizer’s software that helps with toolhpath’s generation.”
The final version of this software will be available later this year as a downloadable package at Voxelizer’s website. The toolhead is currently available through ZMorph’s online store.
