The Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) has appointed Mark Barfoot of Hyphen as the organisation's President and the new board for 2014-15.
Barfoot will be supported by Vice-Presidents Steve Deak of GE Aviation and rp+m's Dana Foster, while Statasys' Kim Killoran will be stepping into the role of Secretary and the position of Event Manager will be held by Thomas Sorovetz of Chrysler.
Immediately after the newly-elected members of this esteemed board were announced, Somos Material by DSM's Mark Abshire, Reebok International's Gary Rabinovitz and industry stalwart Todd Grimm were appointed as advisors.
In addition to the announcement of the new board, AMUG also revealed that the 2015 AMUG Conference - which was held in April 2014 in Tucson, Arizona - will be returning to Jacksonville, Florida from April 19th-23rd.
The new board's primary responsibility is to build another sterling programme for next year's outing, while overseeing the conference's day-to-day activities. The venue for the upcoming conference will be the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront and the five-day excursion will include two nights of exhibitor expo, hands-on workshops, technical presentations, instructional sessions and a glittering Awards Banquet Gala.
Mark Barfoot is replacing Laser Reproductions' Bret Bordner as president and said he is "honoured" to be appointed to this prestigious position.
"This is a group of industry experts and professionals who are raising the bar in additive manufacturing around the world. We just closed off a very successful conference with 531 attendees from 15 countries. Even with 283 first-time attendees, we maintained the open, collaborative and supportive environment that the AMUG Conference is known for. I’m looking forward to working with this board to develop new ideas and create an even more successful 2015 conference."
