The Ulitmaker 2 joins the CREAT3D's growing list of 3D Printers available in their showroom.
Great Britain is renowned for its High Street but since the credit crunch hit it has been left decimated. Many of the big players packed up and left either falling into administration, going digital or heading out to cheaper out of town locations with better parking.
Many of the more canny councils acted swiftly, rather than let the town’s fall into despair they’ve offered them up to independent businesses from all walks of life. A recent report by American Express suggested that a thriving independent high street could add up to £40,000 on to house prices.
An independent high street needs high quality produce, good service and to offer something you couldn’t get in a supermarket. Hoping to tick all three boxes with the first shop of its kind on the UK high street outside of London is CREAT3D’s new Caversham 3D printer showroom.
The Reading premise on the heart of a bustling high street marks a significant step forward for CREAT3D who have previously only offered their range of 3D printers, accessories and scanners online.
“We are thrilled to be opening our first showroom, and we can’t wait to give people an insight into this exciting new technology,” said Simon Chandler, Managing Director of CREAT3D Ltd. “As we offer such a large range of 3D printers, with more to come, it is great for the businesses we work with to able to come and see them all in action, and to compare and choose the best printer for their needs. Equally we want the space to be accessible to the public so they can start to learn about this emerging technology, which will have an increasing impact on our lives over the next few years.”
CREAT3D have a healthy range of desktop 3D printers including Leapfrog’s offerings, the MakerBots, CubeXs and the Ultimaker 2 as well as the 3D Systems Sense scanner.
To add to that impressive product line CREAT3D were recently confirmed as the first UK reseller of the massively anticipated FUEL3D Scanner, that raised $325k of funding on Kickstarter and a further $2.6m in venture capital. The device is expected to retail at just under £1,000 and is said to capture hi-res scans at the touch of a button. You’ll be able to see the scanner in action at the CREAT3D public showroom.
CREAT3D has a team of experts with in-depth product knowledge gained through using the printers and equipment on a daily basis. This is turn allows CREAT3D to offer customers honest and accurate buying advice in comparing and contrasting the benefits of the different 3D printers to match their specific needs. A variety of training packages are available and there is technical support by phone and email 6 days a week, as well as the provision of handy guides and hints & tips for getting the most out of the printers in daily use.
For those who don’t have sufficient requirements to justify the purchase of a printer just yet, CREAT3D offers a print bureau service, whereby customers can send in their design files to be printed, at low cost compared to a traditional print bureau.
The addition of this completely new business on the Great British High Street is just the type of innovative idea that The Portas Review recommended. Will we see more 3D Printing outlets spring up in this year?
