3D Systems Samsung

Samsung teamed up with 3D Systems to create an app to be used on the Galaxy Note 3, which allowed the user to create and then print their own phone case designs. The app was very popular and was the only 3D printing application away from the TCT + Personalize sponsored 3D printing TechZone, that we were aware of.
Today at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Samsung have announced the latest version of their flagship Galaxy mobile range the Samsung Galaxy S5, complete with wearable tech add-ons and a built in heart monitor. The phone is the single closest rival to Apple’s all selling iPhone.
This being a huge global product launch Samsung have hosted ‘#Unpacked’ events in Sochi and New York City. Interestingly 3D Systems posted a Facebook picture to suggest that they are helping out with the launch.
The photo shows a Note 3 next to a Cube 3, the photograph of the print on the phone appears to be the print that the Cube is halfway through printing. 3D Systems are not revealing any details as to what this collaboration entails but we know that the Cube 3 is capable of printing direct from smartphone devices, perhaps this is the feature being explored at the #Unpacked events?
We got the feeling at CES 2014 that the Note 3 app was just the start of a blossoming relationship between Samsung and 3D Systems and then certainly seems to be the case here…
