Blueprinter
First seen at Euromold last December the Blueprinter from Denmark is now nearing market release.
Pitched as an affordable 3D printer, it is priced at €9,995, it is based on patented SHS™ (selective heat sintering) technology. Very similar to SLS but using a thermal printhead rather than a laser. The powder bed is held at an elevated temperature so the printhead only has to raise the temperature slighty to bond it.
Key things to note is the 100% of the unused powder can be recycled, no support materials are needed. Minimum wall thickness is 1mm.
The vital statistics look like this:
Build chamber (mm): 160 x 200 x 140 (W x L x H)
Printing speed: 10 mm/hour
Layer thickness: 0.1 mm
File formats: STL
Printer dimensions (cm): 100 x 60 x 60 (W x L x H)
Materials - Thermoplastic Monocrome white powder optimized to work with SHS™ Technology.
This machine created a buzz at Euromold, it certainly looks the part from the pictures - you can see them in the UK at TCT Live in September.
