Forme IT
Forme IT
One of the most time consuming aspects to 3D design is creating textures, especially if you are looking to create something with a nature based look, like bark from trees or shells.
Forme IT are set to change that as they launch their Digital Design Library home to highly-detailed object scans, helping designers create more accurate and intricate models, faster.
Forme It has created a digital design library that gives 3D modellers easy, affordable access to a fascinating range of digitised objects. These ready-to-use, high-resolution models mean intricate details or natural forms can be rapidly and accurately recreated. They can also act as a starting point or building block – saving the time and effort of creating entire models from scratch.
“We commission 3D models and scans on a regular basis and the quality we have received from Forme It is second to none. The detail in some of the samples we asked for was simply astonishing and saved us hours of sculpting. All in all a fantastic service.” – Glen Southern, Director, SouthernGFX ltd
Just like a library, Forme IT is divided into easy-to-browse sections, acting as both a resource and a source of inspiration. At launch, users will be able to access over 100 digitised objects within three distinct subsections: Reference, Classic and Modern. Reference consists of scanned objects from the urban and natural world, including shells, antlers, crystals and insects. Classic is made up of functional design pieces – like cups or mugs – that can be transformed into unique designs. Modern includes curated, digitised works by up-and-coming designers that are ready for 3D printing.
Any 3D modeler utilising the Forme It Digital Design library gains:
- Time and cost savings – intricate textures and features can be added in moments, all for an average of £6 per model
- Incredible detail - thanks to unique proprietary technology, Forme It scans capture even the most minute detail, resulting in precise, intricate models
- Transparent licenses – once purchased, Forme It models are yours for your lifetime and come with clear guidance on what you can and cannot do with them
In the spirit of Forme It as enabler, Forme It has collaborated with prominent 3D modellers to create step-by-step video tutorials on adapting their models. These easy-to-use guides provide tips and ideas on mixing up and reimagining Forme It models – from turning a bark scan into a distinctive container, to transforming a shell scan into a unique desk tidy. All of the Forme It video guides can be found on their YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Formeit.
John Barlow, Director of Forme, states:
"By helping streamline the time spent modelling - while enhancing, not compromising, the level of detail - I believe Forme It will be a key part of the new and exciting 3D printing ecosystem that is expanding every day.”
