Flux is the latest name to join the Kickstarter $1million club with another 20 days to go for its All-in-One 3D printer campaign.
The Flux combines basic FFF 3D printing, scanning, laser engraving and more all in the single machine with simple magnetic modules that can easily be changed to customise the machine’s functions.
The minimalistic 3D printer uses high-resolution stepper motors and comes equipped with three cooling fans to enable high accuracy printing at top speed without overheating.
The scanning function allows anyone without 3D modelling skills to create objects based on an object scan and the laser engraving option includes a 200mW laser head that lets the user embed patterns onto objects.
Currently in development is a dual extruder, ceramics extruder and a pastry extruder for edible 3D prints.
With a user-friendly interface, the printer’s software package, FLUX Studio simplifies 3D modelling, hardware control and system configuration.
The rush of backers means the Flux has also surpassed all of its stretch goals so the printer now includes an 8GB SD card, a gyroscope to sense the motion of the print head, a pen holder that lets the user draw images with the 3D printer and also WiFi compatibility.

The now sold out early bird packages started at just $499 making this an extremely considerably low cost machine. In particular, when compared with the potential costs of a separate 3D printer, scanner and laser engraver, it’s clear to see why the machine has achieved peak levels of interest in a such short space of time.
The product launch is penned for June 2015 with all Kickstarter orders set to be fulfilled by July.
The project will be funded later this month on December 21st. With a goal of just $100,000 and a current total of $1,137,510, the campaign looks set to be quite the crowdfunding success story and joins just 82 other campaigns in the site’s history that have reached the prestigious $1million mark.
