OR Laser will reveal the results of their extensive research into direct metal additive manufacturing at the upcoming Formnext exhibition in Frankfurt on November 15th.
The research and development programme has been conducted for more than three years with the primary aim of making direct metal AM more accessible. Now, OR Laser are ready to make their findings public.
Priding themselves on developing specialist high power lasers for customised applications, OR Laser has developed a strong reputation for building industrial machines, with leading equipment and services for laser welding, laser engraving and laser cutting.
After 19 years in the field, the company also boasts an impressive client list.
Based in the industrial heart of Germany, the laser technologist company has developed specific software expertise to support its machine development and serial production activities.
More recently, the company has focussed its attentions in the AM market, most notably with its direct metal deposition (DMD) equipment. In collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute, OR Laser produced a proprietary powder nozzle for the Diodeline range of hardware. The powder nozzle is the first such system that allows both wire and powder-fed cladding. It results in a much improved efficiency, up to ten times the usual amount.

Meanwhile, their software-supported production options, enabled by the Orlas Suite, has allowed them to provide DMD capabilities, which companies such as GE Power has adopted.
Since the industrial laser system producer was founded in 1997, Managing Directors, Yhushua Resnik and Uri Resnik have consistently pursued the goal of developing new applications for lasers in materials for a wide range of clients for metal and plastics processors.
As the 2016 Formnext exhibition approaches, OR Laser are ready to reveal the results of their most recent findings into direct metal additive manufacturing.
OR Laser will be hosting a launch event at Formnext in Frankfurt on November 15th in Hall 3.1, Booth E70 at 10.45am.
