S-CAN Engine Block Felixprinters XL
FELIXprinters will exhibit 3D printing equipment and applications at TCT Show with service provider S-Can.
S-Can offers 3D scanning, CMM inspection and precision manufacturing services and is also a user of FELIXprinters’ 3D printing platforms. At TCT Show, the partners will showcase FELIXprinters’ Pro Series, including the Pro XL machine unveiled in February, and introduce the vendor’s advanced, customisable bio-printing platform.
Having invested big in FELIXprinters’ 3D printing technology, S-Can applies the printers to prototype products, produce casting moulds and masters, and manufacture jigs. Since 2015, the company has purchased FELIXprinters’ Pro 1, which is said to have paid for itself ten times over, as well as a Tec 4.1, Pro 3 and the recently-launched XL. The Pro 1 has achieved over 400 days of continuous build time, while the Pro XL has been running for an average of 20 hours a day to build display show pieces and casting patterns, among other parts.
At TCT Show, on Stand E50, S-Can will be joined by FELIXprinters to showcase the capabilities of the OEM’s 3D printing systems.
“Internally, S-Can use FELIX 3D printers for prototyping designs,” commented James Senior, Managing Director at S-Can. “We might do five or more different concept designs of a particular part or component, as it’s much easier to visualise a part when it’s in your hand. We are putting a lot of work through the newly purchased XL printer and it’s opening up things which we couldn’t have been able to do before – at least to the same quality and size – so things are very encouraging. We have found FELIX machines to be very repeatable which is our most fundamental requirement for any application, and we also haven’t noticed any accuracy degradation over time.”
