Printcraft upscales
Printcraft’s resident genius Paul Harter told us last month that he was just about ready to scale up the 3D printing project. And scale up is exactly what the 3d Printing platform for Minecraft has done.
With a revamped website Paul Harter’s former hobby, now full-time job has over 100 build platforms inside his new Minecraft server, meaning there's room for everyone (well not quite) to start building their masterpieces.
If you fancy building literally anything from the endless list of Minecraft’s tools and resources simply head over to us1.printcraft.org (us) or eu1.printcraft.org (Europe) and start creating. Once you’ve finished your version of the Eiffel Tower or Empire State Building you place a sign down with your email address and Paul and his team will email your printable STL file.
Paul told us that he felt this was the best way to get children 3D printing, by using pre-existing skills of a video game rather than teach them a new skill set and the proof is certainly in the pudding as industry big boys i.materialise and MakerBot have jumped on the Printcraft success, to offer a service for those with and without access to 3D printers respectively.
With the death of TinkerCad there was room for another simple-to-use, child friendly 3D design software. This mass expansion by Printcraft places them firmly as front-runners and all it took was “a little bit of coding”.
