Valentine's Day heart
Christmas is barely over and yet the next holiday in the calendar is upon us in just a month. Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate that you’re a human being that is tolerable to another human… or at least so your mother would have you believe.
If, like me, you’ve been in a relationship for some time you’re probably totally bored of the available gifts on the market. Well, thanks to two Valentine’s Day design competitions it would appear that we could have a whole new selection of gifts to chose from.
Both CGtrader and iMakr are running competitions for the design community both aimed at coming up with some slightly more imaginative Valentine’s Day gifts.
For CGTrader’s Valentine’s Day contest judging and prizes are supplied by Plastic Scribbler, 3DPRINTUK, iGo3D and Sculpteo. The winning prize includes a fully assembled 3D printer by Plastic Scribbler amongst other 3D printed prizes. The conditions for entry are the same as every, the best 3D printed Valentine’s Day portfolio will be judged as well as the best 3D printed model.
“Sweets, flowers, jewelry - it is easy to foresee the gift-giving moves of a man in love, right? Well, it is not a secret, that the best gifts are those which can surprise. One thing that definitely surprises is 3D printing.”
iMakr’s contest, ran through their MyMiniFactory website, doesn’t have a 3D printed prize but a £1,000 spa experience for those romantic 3D modellers out there.
The two design themes are Gadgets and Valentine's Keepsake/Gift.
MyMiniFactory are accepting entries from the 13th of January until the 27th of January. All submitted entries will be 3D test printed by the MyMiniFactory team to assess their printabilty and quality. Successfully test printed objects will then enter a two-week public voting period commencing the 3rd of February.
All successful entrants will also receive a 3D print of their entry!
