It seems almost an age ago now that Formlabs launched their beautiful Form 1 on Kickstarter, but it is in fact just over two years ago now that the stereolithography 3D printer smashed its $100,000 target on Kickstarter by, oh just the, $2,845,885.
Since we’ve had the now settled wrangle with 3D Systems, an award winning documentary featuring the rise of the former MIT project and a brand new machine in the Form 1+.
The machine itself has received many plaudits, not least in these quarters, for its simplicity and design based purely on functionality. The man behind the design of everything the end-user sees and touches is Yoav Reches, a graduate of the Royal College of Art, here is his fascinating talk at TCT Show + Personalize 2014 on the genesis of arguably the industry’s most beautiful desktop 3D printer.
