The Newest Metal 3D Printer in Town

OR Laser launched its SLM machine at formnext powered by tct 2016 and we caught up with the chief business officer to see why the time is right for a new player in the metal 3D printing world.

OR Laser unveiled its ORLAS Creator SLM-based metal 3D printer at formnext powered by tct 2016. We speak to Chief Business Officer,  Ludovico Camarda to find out why the time was right for a better additive laser melting solution.

OR Laser are showcasing a fully working platform at the show and the machine, The ORLAS Creator, is actively printing metal parts on the show floor. A reputable company for meeting its machine production commitments, and with a production strategy in place, OR Laser plans to begin shipping their new metal AM machine in 2017.

OR Laser began researching direct metal AM three years ago. The main focus quickly surrounded making the technology capabilities more accessible. Considerable market research revealed that metal AM had vast potential for SMEs, particularly in industries like jewellery, dentistry and medical sectors, as well as for smaller engineering firms and laboratories. Until now, this size of organisation has been priced out of the metal AM market with no commercially viable options available to them.
