CGTech, a developer of software for manufacturing processes, has released the latest version of its VERICUT platform.
VERICUT 8.1 has the ability to simulate all types of CNC machining, additive, and hybrid manufacturing processes, and can be operated independently or integrated with leading CAM systems. It brings with it a host of new and updated features, including a new Additive module, which enables the simulation of additive and traditional CNC machining capabilities applied in any order.
Other new modules include the Teamcenter Interface and Grinder-Dressing. Teamcenter Interface refers to VERICUT 8.1’s ability to import 3D cutting tools from Siemens Teamcenter Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, avoiding the need to create external uncontrolled copies of models on a local or network drive. Grinder-Dressing, meanwhile, enhances the support for Grinding and Dressing operations. Users have the ability to simulate dressing where a secondary tool is applied to a grinding wheel to freshen the grinding surface, or to change the grinding wheel cutting shape. While the dresser is in use, and even if the grinder is engaged with the part, VERICUT can simulate the required dynamic compensation.
VERICUT 8.1 also brings advanced cutting force capabilities through the Force Optimisation module. A physics-based NC program, Force Optimisation is said to deliver significant machining time savings, while also allowing the user to monitor cutting conditions and forces with a series of graphs and charts. The data can help users identify undesirable cutting conditions, represented as spikes in the graph, and act accordingly. Spikes can also represent forces, chips loads, tool deflection, and material removal rates.
The aim has been to simplify and enhance manufacturing processes, and deliver to customers an array of benefits.
The software also boasts a new Section window, allowing the user to see inside a part during simulation at a quicker rate, and the X-Caliper measuring tool, which creates a measurement label on the part, so key measurements can be documented, set-up diagrams created and inspections carried out.
“VERICUT 8.1 includes new modules and enhancements that simplify simulating a CNC machine,” summarised Tony Shrewsbury, CGTech Ltd. Managing Director. “This release is all about various tools that can increase NC programmer efficiency, reduce production time, and detect costly errors before going to the shop floor.”
CGTech will demonstrate the VERICUT 8.1 software from Stand 062 at the Advanced Engineering 2017, between November 1st and 2nd 2017.
