Coobx LIFTcell 2
The LIFTcell 2 solution is launched as an entry level system for automated production, but thanks to Coobx’s LIFT technology is still capable of producing a highly reliable output.
Liechtenstein-based Coobx has followed up last month’s release of Exigo, with the launch of LIFTcell production lines, which will support the company’s flagship 3D printer series.
Enabling a swift change from additive manufacturing to additive production, LIFTcell consists of three different units with different grades of automation, to ensure Coobx can reach customer demands. The three units which make up the LIFTcell line are the LIFTcell 2, LIFTcell 8 and LIFTcell 12.
As its name suggests, the LIFTcell line is based on Coobx's patent-pending Light Initiated Fabrication Technology (LIFT), which also provides the foundation for the Exigo. LIFT enables several different features to operate in a single workflow, a degree of flexibility the LIFTcell prides itself on.
Hoping to simplify the pathway into automated 3D production, the LIFTcell 2 houses a fully automatic ‘Pick and Place’ system, which organises the continuous production of up to 60 build platforms. Two clean in place (CIP) hose pumps ensure a smooth workflow, allowing the resin in the printers to be adjusted and refilled automatically. The system is designed for up to two printers, which can be supplied with two different materials. Prints are organised by an integrated job spooler.
The LIFTcell 2 solution is launched as an entry level system for automated production, but thanks to Coobx’s LIFT technology is still capable of producing a highly reliable output, per Coobx. Post-processing is left to be done manually by the Exigo Clean & Cure unit.

Coobx LIFTcell 12
The Coobx LIFTcell 12, for for industrial and mass production.
For industrial and mass production, Coobx has made available the LIFTcell 8 and LIFTcell 12 systems. These systems, while fully automated like the LIFTcell 2, do boast a post-processing unit, able to clean, cure, dry, temper and collect resin. The high-speed rotary transfer system allows to process build platform with 150 second cycle time. LIFTcell 8 and LIFTcell 12 are able to handle up to six different materials on a maximum of 12 machines in a unit. The resins are stored and processed in the central unit. Additionally, the Staubli TX2 robotics guarantee a reliable industrial workflow, while the central print server organises all print jobs.
Coobx believes LIFTcell will not only enhance its own 3D printer series, but perhaps also the greater adoption of 3D technology for production purposes. With this being the company’s second announcement in less than a month, the Coobx CEO has expressed his pride at delivering new solutions to the 3D industry.
“LIFTcell is the logical extension of the Exigo printer series,” said Marco Schmid, Coobx CEO and head of R&D. “Having really fast single printers is a curse and a saviour at the same time. Changing every 20 minutes, building platforms and handling them in a non-qualified post process, has nothing to do with additive production. We had the modular, automatable systems already in mind during the design process of the Exigo printers. We are proud to [provide] high productivity solutions for the industry.”
All LIFTcell systems can be equipped with the standard Exigo 1-110 or Exigo 1-350, and can also be mixed up in one unit.
