3DCeram ceramic 3D prints formnext
French 3D ceramic printing experts, 3DCeram has announced a partnership with a Chinese university, which will allow professors and students alike the opportunity to use the Ceramaker 900.
With one of 3DCeram’s 3D printing platforms, the University of Shandong will have its educators and pupils trained in ceramic 3D printing and the use of advanced ceramic applications.
The deal between the two parties was finalised by 3D Ceram’s Chinese subsidiary, established towards the end of 2016 in Wuhan, and expands the company’s presence in China.
“We are extremely delighted to be working with the University of Shandong, an international university that is renowned for providing training in cutting-edge technology to students from all over the world. The sale of our Ceramaker 900 underlines the credibility of our expertise in ceramic 3D printing and indicates a new stage in 3DCeram’s ambitions for the Chinese market.”
The University of Shandong is one of the oldest and best performing universities in the whole of China. An international scientific educational institute, it comes as no surprise that it has sought to adopt 3DCeram’s technology, and expand its range of training in 3D printing. The University of Shandong’s growing interest in 3D printing coincides with the continued growth of the technology in China. Since 2010, the Chinese 3D printing market has experienced 40% annual growth, while the country’s government has pledged around $245 million to the sector.
The government’s intentions are much the same as the University of Shandong’s intentions. That is, to stimulate interest in 3D printing and innovation thanks to 3D printing, and eventually becoming the leading 3D printing nation in the world. For 3DCeram, this partnership is part of a co-operative project with the university’s Mechanics and Materials department, the owners of the Ceramaker 900. With this machine, Shandong University’s Mechanics and Materials department will carry out research into different special applications and specialist materials.
