KLS Martin is set to deliver its 500th implant manufactured with Lithoz' Lithography-based Ceramic Manufacturing (LCM) 3D printing technology by the end of Q3 2026.
The 500th LCM implant will be delivered via KLS Martin's surgeon-facing Individual Patient Solutions (IPS) Gate order platform. LithaBone TCP (Tricalcium Phosphate) is now listed as an official product on the platform, and the implant manufacturer expects to see continued growth in clinical adoption of the product after the milestone has been reached in the coming weeks.
KLS Martin’s global IPS surgical hub for clinicians is a case-planning app for custom-made implants made from various materials using technologies such as 3D printing. For the LithaBone TCP implants, KLS Martin is leveraging its LCM printers, which are operating under an ISO 13485-certified quality management system, and enabling patient- and case-specific geometries, as well as tailored porosities, that influence the degradation of the scaffolds and their replacement by newly formed, vital bone. In addition to classical fixation via titanium screws, fixation can be achieved via KLS Martin's proprietary SonicWeld Rx system using resorbable polymer pins. This is said to create an all-around resorbable implant unit that eliminates the need for a second surgery.
