EOS to support BIZU Space's uptake of metal additive manufacturing

EOS has partnered with Brazilian aerospace startup BIZU Space to advance additive manufacturing capabilities for next-generation space applications.

As emerging space programs increasingly rely on AM to accelerate innovation, enable advanced space applications and reduce manufacturing complexity, engineering expertise has become a key enabler of success.

Through the collaboration, engineers at BIZU Space will gain access to Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) education through the Additive Minds Academy, complemented by engineering support from EOS Additive Minds experts.

BIZU Space is among the companies contributing to Brazil's growing commercial space sector. The company is involved in the development of propulsion technologies for the country's first privately developed, fully Brazilian orbital launch vehicle program, an initiative designed to support independent access to space for small satellite missions. As part of these efforts, BIZU Space is exploring industrial metal 3D printing for advanced rocket engine components, including combustion chambers and closed-cycle turbopump technologies.

“The most successful additive manufacturing programs combine technology with education," said Michael Wohlfart, Team Manager Business Development & Academy at EOS. “Our goal is to help engineers develop a deep understanding of Design for Additive Manufacturing, so they can fully leverage the advantages of industrial 3D printing for demanding applications such as space propulsion.”

"Brazil's space sector is entering an exciting phase of growth, creating new opportunities to develop technologies locally and strengthen the country's space capabilities," explained Raphael Galate, Co-founder of BIZU Space. "As we continue to advance propulsion technologies, additive manufacturing is playing an increasingly important role in how complex aerospace components are developed. Working with EOS and the Additive Minds Academy will help us further strengthen the expertise needed to support future space applications."
