AM-Europe appoints Steering Committee to guide strategic direction

AM-Europe, operated by CECIMO, has appointed its first Steering
Committee, marking a significant step in strengthening European cooperation and advancing the industrial adoption of additive manufacturing (AM).

The appointment took place during AM-Europe's first plenary meeting since its official launch in June 2026 and represents an important milestone in the initiative's development as a platform for collaboration, industry representation and policy engagement at the European level.

The newly appointed Steering Committee brings together representatives of leading national industry associations from across Europe, reflecting AM-Europe's commitment to building a stronger and more coordinated European additive manufacturing ecosystem.

The Steering Committee comprises:
• Naiara Zubizarreta – ADDIMAT (Spain)
• Enrico Annacondia – UCIMU (Italy)
• Martin Bamimnger – Metaltechnology Austria (Austria)
• Joshua Dugdale – AMUK (United Kingdom)
• Adriaan Spierings – SWISSMEM (Switzerland)
• Filip Geerts – CECIMO (European level)

The Steering Committee is chaired by Virgilio García, Chairman of AM-Europe and CEO of Novaindef.

The Steering Committee will play a central role in guiding AM-Europe's strategic direction, aligning priorities among its members and supporting the implementation of activities aimed at strengthening Europe's additive manufacturing ecosystem.

AM-Europe operates under the management of Vincenzo Belletti, Director of EU Public Affairs at CECIMO, who oversees the initiative's activities, coordinates its members and supports the implementation of its work programme and engagement with European institutions.

Beyond the appointment, the plenary meeting provided an opportunity for members to shape AM-Europe's priorities and define the next steps in its development.

Discussions covered AM-Europe’s work programme and budget, participation in key industry trade shows, policy engagements and communication activities.

As part of the programme, AM-Europe members also held a bilateral meeting with
representatives of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS), reinforcing dialogue with EU institutions and highlighting the growing strategic importance of additive manufacturing for European industry, including the defence sector.

With its first Steering Committee now established, AM-Europe enters a new phase of development, focused on translating industry cooperation into coordinated action. Through the active involvement of its members, AM-Europe will continue to strengthen cooperation across national additive manufacturing ecosystems, promote industrial deployment, increase the sector’s visibility and ensure that the voice of European additive manufacturing is heard in EU policymaking.
