CGTrader launched their ‘ebay for 3D models’ earlier in the year, the online marketplace where 3D artists and designers can buy, sell or share 3D models has become the place to be for 3D modellers all over the world.
So when they announced a 3D printing competition we knew we’d see some pretty exciting models come from their community. The winners have been announced and we have not been disappointed.
The winners were lavished with prizes from displays at iMakr to printed models by Nick Allen’s 3D Print UK, though the main prize was undoubtedly an Ultimaker. There were two Ultimakers up for grabs one for Best 3D Printable Portfolio and one for Best 3D Printable Model. Quite the competition.
It is unsurprising with such an excellent selection of prizes up for grabs, including some excellent runners up rewards, that the winners are of the absolute highest quality.
The winner of Best 3D Printable Model was an alien bust named, The Traveler by San Franciscan 3D designer Chee Fong. The Sci-fi model won the prize because it perfectly matches the requirements set out of the start of the competition, it is new and extrememly well modelled. Runners up included a Hand Cranked Power Generator and a comic bust of a Zombie Hunter.
The winner of Best 3D Printable Portfolio was Sam Abbott’s collection of gorgeous 3D printable goodies. Sam is a 3D printing whizz and has designed several different products from the rings in the top pic to espresso cups and his winning entry was described by CGTrader as being the most versatile and intricate of all the collections entered.
Personalize were at the 3D Print Cup final last week, which also had some beautiful 3D printed models, the quality of entries into competitions like this keeps on getting better and better. We look forward to the next one!
