Objet print first ever multi-material single print keyboard
There are many “world firsts” we have to write about in the world of 3D printing; cars, football cleats, 3D printing pens etc... and here’s another; Objet have created the first ever multi-material, non-assembly keyboard in one of their Objet Connex 3D Printer.
This is no-mean feat, anyone who has ever taken a keyboard apart, perhaps to clean the keys, can testify to the amount of materials inside and how fiddly they can be to put back together.
The Connex line of printers are capable of building up to 14 different materials into one build, so hard can go with soft, rough can go with smooth. If you think about a keyboard the material you hit is fairly rigid and is cushioned with every blow by a softer material. Previously keyboards required an assembly process but this is a one print fully assembled process.
We look forward to seeing what the guys at the Objet Blog come up with next.
